Never Once Forsaken

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

— Psalm 9:10 (NIV)

One of the beautiful things about gathering around a table is that stories are remembered there.

If you’ve ever sat with a dear friend over a cup of coffee, you’ve probably found yourself saying, “Remember when…” Together, you look back and realize God was working long before you recognized His hand.

Trust often grows the same way.

We tend to think trust is something we simply choose. But if I’m honest, most of my trust in God wasn’t built in one brave decision. It was built slowly—through answered prayers I didn’t expect, through disappointments I didn’t understand, and through seasons when I wondered if God had forgotten me… only to discover later that He had been carrying me all along.

Psalm 9 reminds us that those who know His name trust Him.

Knowing someone takes time. It comes from walking together through ordinary days and difficult nights. You learn His faithfulness one step at a time until, one day, you realize your confidence isn’t in your circumstances—it’s in His character.

Maybe today you’re sitting in a season that feels painfully quiet.

Perhaps the prayer is still unanswered.
The relationship is still broken.
The diagnosis hasn’t changed.
The door remains closed.

If that’s where you are, hear this gentle truth:

Feeling forsaken is not the same as being forsaken.

David knew what it felt like to hide in caves, wait longer than he wanted, and wonder how the story would end. Yet he could still say with confidence that God had never abandoned those who sought Him.

Not then.
Not once.
Not now.

Friend, you don’t have to arrive at God’s table with perfect faith.
Just come.
Bring your questions.
Bring your disappointment.
Bring your weary heart.

He has never turned away someone who sincerely seeks Him.

And if you look back over your own story, I have a feeling you’ll find what I have found—that even in the chapters that hurt the most, God was quietly setting another place at the table, waiting for the day you would see He had been there all along.

Around the Table

  • Looking back, where can you now see God’s fingerprints on a season that once felt lonely?
  • Is there an area of your life where you’ve confused feeling abandoned with actually being abandoned?
  • What would it look like to simply seek God today—not with perfect faith, but with an open heart?
  • How has God’s faithfulness in the past strengthened your trust for today?

A Simple Prayer

Father,
Thank You for never walking away from Your children. Even when I can’t see what You’re doing, remind me that You are still working. Help me remember the countless ways You’ve carried me through seasons I never thought I would survive.
Today, I choose to come to You just as I am—not because my faith is perfect, but because Your faithfulness is.
Teach me to know Your heart more deeply so my trust continues to grow, one day and one story at a time.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

You have a place here. Pull up a chair… there’s always room at His table.
